Departure for many hikes and walks starting from the Villa.

Writer: Carine C&KCarine C&K

If the Villa is a small haven of peace dedicated to well-being and disconnection, the region invites you to organize beautiful trips – on foot, by bike, for a few hours or for the whole day. As soon as you cross the gate of the Villa, you dive into the heart

of the garrigue, of Provençal flora with the scents of rosemary, thyme, and pine. A lush nature, regardless of the season.

A path leading to the village of Castillon du Gard,

20 minutes along a small, defined path where one can imagine themselves like Ugolin in Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources, walking across lands bordered by stone walls, stopping at a plateau to gaze at the magnificent Pont du Gard in the distance. As you walk along this path, you quickly realize that the village is perched on its rock. In fact, halfway between the Villa and the village, you can stop for a moment at the edge of the cliff and admire the distant vineyards, the Alpilles, and sometimes even the summit of Mont Ventoux. A true delight for your eyes.

Sometimes, an eagle soars over our path, and in the summer, it’s to the rhythm of the cicadas’ song that we walk to discover a mill (where Daudet might have written The Goat of Monsieur Seguin) and finally the medieval village of Castillon du Gard.

Small but charming, with its cobbled streets, its houses where history seems to have no wrinkles. A café terrace, a pastry shop, Nathalie’s painting gallery, quality restaurants, 360-degree viewpoints over Uzès, the Pont du Gard, the valley of vineyards… time stands still there.

The return can be made through the garrigue or the village streets where you can admire beautiful Gardian homes, Mediterranean-style villas…

It’s a lovely little post-meal stroll I suggest you take before returning to the Villa to enjoy a swim in the pool, a small sauna, and perhaps a winter herbal tea or a local beer in the summer.

A greenway or a more energetic hike
