MEET AN ARTIST IN THEIR STUDIO

Writer: Carine C&KCarine C&K

An artist’s studio holds a certain magic in my eyes, where inspiration and creativity come to life. It is a fascinating place, like a cave where one discovers with a sense of intimacy those who shape the artistic universe. Each studio is unique, with varying techniques, materials, and minds. As a novice, meeting the artist in their environment allows me to better understand their choices and inspirations behind each of their works.

Through my articles dedicated to visiting an artist’s studio, I aim to share the emotions evoked by these atmospheres of textures and colors surrounding the works that come to life from the artist’s imagination. I will also provide suggestions for visits during your stay at the Villa les Petits Gardons.

Why Secrets of the Address of Artists?

I meet them in their studios to see how they set up, understand what sparks their creativity, and feel that natural philanthropy, altruism, and the desire to share inspiration with others.

Pourquoi Secrets d'adresse d'artistes?

Je vais les rencontrer dans leur atelier pour voir comment ils s’installent, comprendre ce qui engendre leur créativité et ressentir cette philanthropie naturelle, l'altruisme, le don à l'autre pour partager cette inspiration.

«Visit to the Studio of Nicole Ortis Bommarito

I met Nicole in her gallery when I invited her to exhibit during an entrepreneur evening at the Pont du Gard. She immediately accepted and gave me the chance to experience her gallery through her artist’s eyes.

A recap of that meeting.

From the moment I step into the alley of the old village of Castillon du Gard leading to her gallery, I am filled with a distant emotion, likely due to the history of this medieval village. A “positive” emotion of curiosity, yet distant, because I can feel a certain strength in the natural stone that has allowed these houses to be built—both similar and different—real witnesses of history and culture. I immediately understand and feel Nicole’s choice to install her gallery here, on Rue des Marchands in Castillon du Gard.

The Camargue and the sea as inspiration,

A door opened to simplicity, nature, the vibrancy of the sea, and the Camargue bulls. The colors of Provence envelop us in softness and warmth.

Nicole is a painter but also a ceramist. A beautiful collection of sailors and poppies are placed here and there.

I loved this zen, inspiring space, and as soon as I left, I could easily imagine taking you there to meet and feel the tranquility of the place.

So, let’s meet soon for a short walk of about 20 minutes from the Villa, through the Garrigue, to reach Nicole’s enchanting cave of colors.

For my next meeting, I will introduce you to another artist in her ceramics studio, also in Castillon du Gard: Nathalie Bedin.
